Features of Azure
Data Resiliency
When we use Azure’s cloud storage, data is physically stored in data centers that are operated by Microsoft. For storing data, Azure SQL warehouses uses Azure blob storage. Any data that we store in Azure storage will have a minimum of three copies that is stored in the same data center. This will ensure recovering the data if one copy goes missing due to some reason. Customers can opt for different levels of resiliency as per their convenience.
Capacity Management
Microsoft Azure helps overcome the challenge of capacity planning. Azure offers a hybrid architecture storage solution named “StorSimple” that helps in capacity planning. “StorSimple” offers storage of up to 500 TB of cloud storage. StorSimple has built in features including data tiering, archiving, compression and off-site storage.
Data Security
Security in Azure can be customized at different levels and as per the customer needs. The level of protection comes in different levels provided by National Security Groups (NSGs), which only allow permitted traffic to traverse the virtual machines.
BCDR Integration
Azure storage integrates directly with your BCDR (Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery) strategy with options for back up and disaster recovery.
