Smart Crop Protection
An ESP32-based field sensor network that automates crop protection and gives farmers actionable advisories on a smartphone.
Challenge
What they were solving for.
Manual crop monitoring is labor-intensive and reactive. Farmers needed an affordable, low-power device that could detect pests, weather risks, and soil-moisture issues across distributed plots — and act on them without constant human attention.
Approach
How we built it.
We engineered a battery-powered ESP32 node with multi-sensor inputs, BLE provisioning, and LoRa uplink to a gateway. Edge logic handles routine triggers locally; the cloud platform aggregates fleet data, runs anomaly detection, and pushes advisories to a mobile app in the local language.
Outcome
What shipped.
Field trials showed earlier detection of stress events compared to manual scouting, reduced pesticide spend through targeted application, and a self-service onboarding flow that lets a farmer add a new node in under two minutes.
